In this spotlight, we meet a Senior Interior Designer at Sandra Britt Interiors, where architecture and interior design work hand in hand to shape spaces with purpose. With a background in architecture and a passion for collaboration, her work focuses on how environments influence creativity, energy, and the way people show up each day.
From designing Ampersand Studios spaces to anticipating what’s next at Nashville Yards, this conversation offers a behind-the-scenes look at the ideas, routines, and environments that keep creativity moving forward.
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m a Senior Interior Designer at Sandra Britt Interiors, a full-service architectural interior design firm based in Nashville, Tennessee.
What’s something we don’t know about you?
I have a background in architecture, having studied it for five years and worked as an architect before transitioning fully into interior design. I’m fortunate to work at an architecturally driven firm where I can combine both of my passions. Many people also don’t know that Sandra Britt Interiors designs all of the Ampersand Studio spaces, which is always an exciting and rewarding process. We’re especially looking forward to the new Ampersand at Nashville Yards and can’t wait to see it open.
What inspires or motivates you to get out of bed?
I genuinely love what I do, which motivates me every day. I enjoy starting new projects and watching them evolve from an initial idea or sketch into a fully realized home. When choosing my career, I wanted every day to feel different, and being in a creative profession allows for constant reimagining and growth.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
A good eight hours of sleep. If I don’t hit my sleep goal, my whole day feels off.
Where do your brightest ideas come from?
Collaboration — especially during design team meetings and conversations with our trade partners. Exchanging ideas and working as a team consistently yields the strongest results.
How do you spark your creativity when you’re feeling in a rut?
I change my surroundings. At Ampersand, I’ll spend time in the common areas, like the Members Lounge, whether that means relaxing on a comfortable sofa or jumping into a spontaneous conversation with other members. Those moments always leave me feeling refreshed and inspired.
Where is your favorite place to decompress & unwind?
At home with my husband, enjoying a cozy dinner together.
When do you feel your best, and what do you do to stay in good vibrations?
Exploring new places always makes me feel energized and refreshed. Since moving to Nashville about a year ago, we’ve loved discovering new restaurants and coffee shops. I enjoy how the city offers both urban energy and easy access to nature — it’s exciting to watch Nashville grow.
Why did you choose Ampersand Studios as your workspace?
I love the locations, the creative community, and the variety of workspace options. When we design Ampersand spaces, our goal is for members to feel inspired and energized. Being able to work in those spaces and hear positive feedback about the design truly means a lot to us.
