IN MY BAG with Photographer Neil Watson

The ultimate “go bag” for photographers is a discussion we thought you might want to listen in on. We spoke with Cortez Groupe photographer Neil Watson to peak into his bag & get a visual diary of his quick & ready set up before heading out on a quick shoot.

Sekonic Light meter | Profoto Air Sync remote | Canon eye-cup

The reason I use this camera system is simple. It hardly ever misses focus, especially with fast lenses like the 70-200mm 2.8 III. When I need to move through a fashion shoot or even some portrait situations, locking focus is critical. This is a sports camera (in theory) as such, it’s used to tracking and picking up focus pretty quickly, even in lower light situations when I can’t quite trust my eyes.

Neil: I really only use two main lenses for almost anything. Especially if the unexpected arises on set… which it often does. Having strong glass to be able to punch in or out in an image after the fact (in post) really helps keep the image quality high, along with the strong sensor of my 1Dx camera system.
