Hugo Mijares, One D+B Miami / H2 Architecture.
Tell us a little about what you do.
One D+B Miami is a multidisciplinary design company developing a wide range of projects from small exhibits through high-end homes, buildings and hospitality projects. Everything we do is shaped by our love for thinking (designing) and making (building). It is essential to our architecture that materials, details, and construction are an integral and informative part of the design process. Materials are what realize the architecture and interior design.
What inspires/motivates you to get out of bed?
My passion for what I do and the challenges of each project, problem solving is very fun.
What is the one thing you can’t live without?
Italian morning coffee is a must, I also keep a Moleskin Notebook with me at all times.
Where do your brightest ideas come from?
I draw inspiration outside of the field of architecture like films, music, and art.
Where is your favorite place to decompress & unwind?
Home sweet home, and riding my motorcycle on A1A.
When do you feel your best, and what do you do to stay in the vibration?
I feel the best when I’m designing and there is a ritual to it: music, candles or incense and the cell phone off, in a sense it is like meditation for me.
Why did you choose Ampersand Studios as your workspace?
The vibe, the location, the people and friendly staff. I love the energy and Social Club-feeling, not to mention being surrounded by art and beautiful objects.
Tell us something we don’t know about you.
You may already know I am an American Architect and Designer that has moved between automotive, architectural, furniture and product design. What you may not know is that through it all, there’s one attribute that’s remained consistent –my love for speed. Designing and building high-end homes and motorcycles is my passion and my way of life.
Thank you.
