&ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: ANNA MEYSTER

Meet Anna Meyster, a Miami-based contemporary artist whose work is as playful as it is profound. Originally from Ukraine, Anna has built a creative world where pop art meets realism, where teddy bears, rubber ducks, and dreamscapes invite us to pause, smile, and reflect. Behind the vibrant colors and whimsical subjects lies a deeper mission: to help people reconnect with their inner child and rediscover the joy and imagination we often leave behind.

From her first exhibition at fifteen to preparing for Art Basel in Miami this December, Anna’s journey is fueled by curiosity, creativity, and a passion for turning personal stories into art.

Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Anna Meyster, a contemporary artist originally from Ukraine and now based in Miami. I create bright, playful artworks that carry deeper messages, often inviting people to reconnect with their inner child. My style blends pop art with realism, and through it I explore themes like nostalgia, self-reflection, and the fleeting nature of life. Alongside my collections, I also create custom works that tell my clients’ stories bringing their values and beliefs to life on canvas.

What could you never live without?

Curiosity and imagination. They’re the heartbeat of everything I do whether in art or in life.

At what age did you realize you wanted to be an artist / creator?

I started painting when I was two (at least that’s what my mom tells me), and at five I was already going to art school. My first exhibition came at fifteen, and selling two pieces made me feel like a “real” artist for the first time. Deep down, I always knew I was a creative soul. Along the way, I explored media, marketing, and different creative fields, but art has always been at the core of who I am.

What inspires you?

Childhood memories, love, and the fragile beauty of life that’s what drives me. And often, my biggest inspiration comes from people themselves, their stories, values, and dreams, which I bring to life in custom artworks.

What project do you have coming up next?

Now I’m preparing for the Art Basel season in Miami this December, where I’ll present my new collection La Fantasia. This series takes my exploration of the inner child into a more surreal and dreamlike territory where imagination has no limits. La Fantasia is a reminder that the fantasies we once lived in never truly disappear, they live within us, waiting to be rediscovered.

What excites you about the future of your industry?

What excites me most is how the walls around the art world are breaking down. Art isn’t just something you see in galleries anymore. It’s on social media, in public spaces, and in everyday conversations. That makes it feel more alive, more connected to people everywhere. At the same time, I’m fascinated by how technology, especially AI, is opening new doors. I don’t see it as replacing artists, but as a tool that can stretch our imagination and help us tell stories in ways we couldn’t before. For me, the future of art is about freedom: fewer limits, more voices, and endless possibilities for creativity.

What advice would you give to up-and-coming artists or kids who dream to become artists one day?

Don’t be afraid to dream big and stay true to your voice. Consistency matters as much as creativity. Keep showing up for your art, even when it feels hard.

What are ways that you give back to the Miami community?

I give back through collaborations, live painting shows, and by creating opportunities for people to experience art up close. For me, art is always a dialogue with the audience. It’s a way to spark conversations and remind both kids and adults to stay connected to their creativity. I partner with local charities like Kids in Distress, lead workshops where art becomes therapy and inspiration, and take part in open-air art fairs to meet people face-to-face. Looking ahead, one of my goals is to create custom projects for public spaces in Miami, making art part of the city’s everyday life.

Tell us a little bit more about your muse?

My muse is the inner child. It’s that part of us that carries pure joy, curiosity, and wonder. It’s that voice that never stops dreaming, even if we sometimes stop listening to it. Through teddy bears, rubber ducks, and surreal dreamscapes, I try to give that voice a canvas. For me, it’s not just about playfulness, it’s about reminding people of the freedom, imagination, and innocence we often lose as adults, but that still lives within us, waiting to be embraced again.
