We’re passing the mic to a creative member of the Nashville community, our friend, and Owner/Executive Producer of Fantastic Voyage, Will Thomsen. Fantastic Voyage is a creative production partners helping the world’s most innovative brands and advertising agencies concept, develop, and execute award-winning content and film.

Will, it’s great to have you join us this month! Tell our community a little bit about yourself.

Hello! I’m Will Thomsen, it’s a pleasure. I’m a husband, father, gardener, and the owner/Executive Producer of Fantastic Voyage, a creative production company based in Nashville, TN.

What’s something we don’t know about you?

I make an incredible butter crust (pâte brisée) for sweet or savory pies.

What inspires or motivates you to get out of bed?

The sun, coffee, my family, and helping people make creative content that connects with their audiences.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

Seeing the delight in someone’s eyes when we’ve made something wonderful together.

Where do your brightest ideas come from?

The joy of the human experience. It means something different to everyone, but to me, there is inspiration found in not just the exciting moments, but even in the mundane. From opening the curtains on a new day to skydiving from 12,000 feet, the instances that define the human experience are individualistic, curious, and abundant. I believe that if you go looking for it, you will find the idea you need, in the joy of experiencing humanity.

How do you spark your creativity when you’re feeling in a rut?

  • Step 1: Breathe in and out.
  • Step 2: Know and understand this is a block and it can be overcome.
  • Step 3: Seek out and surround myself with inspiration. No screens. Real human interactions, conversations, and visual or physical stimulation.
  • Step 4: If inspired, back to work.
  • Step 5: Not inspired? Stay at Step 3 until you are.

Where is your favorite place to decompress & unwind?

Plaza Mariachi off of Nolensville Pike in Nashville. People, life, music, dancing, food, good for kids – it’s like an annual town festival every weekend. For whatever reason, this place brings out the best in people.

When do you feel your best, and what do you do to stay in good vibrations?

Post-shower, pre-opening the laptop before the day starts. There’s this palpable excitement I get when anticipating what will be created once I open the laptop. A script? A content strategy? A new TV series we’re pitching? Or maybe it’s just a fun video of my wife and son for our family.

Why did you choose Ampersand Studios as your workspace?

The design aesthetic, the reputation as a creative hub, respected industry colleagues work out of it, and the vibe. You know when you walk into a space and feel like the jigsaw pieces fall right into place? Like that, but with sparkles.

Thank you for joining us, Will. For those interested in connecting with Will, you can reach him directly at will@fantasticvoyage.tv or visit him on LinkedIn, Instagram and on the Fantastic Voyage website www.fantasticvoyage.com
