Who are you and what do you do?

Heather Cook, I’m the Founder/CEO & Executive Director of Freedom Music Group. I’m a music producer, songwriter, artist, and author.

What’s something we don’t know about you?

I am also the rock artist known as Brewster Bee. My music is currently being played in 20 sports arenas around the country including for the Dallas Mavericks and LA Lakers and my music has been licensed by Athletes Unlimited Pro Sports League + ESPN app and WNBA app and Orlando Pride Pro Women’s Soccer Team.

What inspires or motivates you to get out of bed?

My children inspire me. My son Tucker is 14 and my son Emmett is 11.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

Chocolate.

Where do your brightest ideas come from?

I am inspired with ideas when I’m on my walks, cooking, or meditating.  The meditative state frees me of overthinking and allows creative ideas to flow easily.

How do you spark your creativity when you’re feeling in a rut?

I read books on various subjects including songwriter, music industry history, entrepreneurship, personal growth.  I spend time with my kids listening to their ideas and view on the world. I take a vacation to a beautiful and inspiring place.

Where is your favorite place to decompress & unwind?

On a lake in New Hampshire or on a beach somewhere.

When do you feel your best, and what do you do to stay in good vibrations?

I feel my best after a good night’s sleep, a morning meditation and walk and morning Pilates. Meditation is a part of my daily life. Either guided meditation, or body scans help me to stay centered and connected to the creative energy of the universe.

Why did you choose Ampersand Studios as your workspace?

It feels like such a calm, relaxing and creative space to work in.  I feel energized when I work here and inspired by so many of the creatives who work in the office.
