This includes those who are new to the city or have been here for a while but are looking to start a new chapter in the city. We help these ladies get settled, find new friends, network, and make the most out of this city. Our squad is all about gatherings, creative content, education, self-improvement and giving back to the community.”

Keep on reading to learn more about Elen and the New Miami Girls.

What’s something we don’t know about you?

Despite what many might assume, NMGs (New Miami Girls) aren’t all about the party scene. While we do occasionally enjoy activities like that, most of us also like to explore different aspects of Miami, such as cultural experiences, outdoor activities, wellness, and professional opportunities. For the ones wondering how we afford to live in Miami – we work really hard, often juggling several jobs or side hustles. We also learn to be resourceful, whether that means sharing a place with roommates or helping each other find affordable activities around town.

What inspires or motivates you to get out of bed?

The thought of the difference we’re making in the lives of the girls in our community. Every time we go to one of our events, we hear amazing stories from our members about how much New Miami Girls has helped them. They tell us about finding their new best friends, great roommates, jobs and other resources through our community. Hearing how we’ve been a lifeline as they start this exciting new chapter in Miami? That’s what fuels our passion. It’s not just about assisting with their move, it’s about supporting their dreams and helping them build a better lifestyle here in Miami. These stories and the joy they bring, that’s our biggest inspiration to make each day and every idea better than the last.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

Definitely our meetups. There’s such a vulnerable and supportive energy that goes around during our events, if we go a couple of weeks without any type of gatherings with our community, it’s like there’s something missing in our lives.

Where do your brightest ideas come from?

Our brightest ideas typically come from chatting with our NMGs or listening to them during our group activities.

Their stories, challenges, and successes are our greatest sources of inspiration. I recall meeting an NMG who expressed hesitation about attending our events because she didn’t know anyone and feared being alone. I completely understood her fear and that conversation sparked a realization: we could do more to alleviate this common anxiety.

That’s when we started our Networking Match initiative, pairing attendees based on their backgrounds and interests before the event, giving them a chance to make early connections and someone to mingle with on the day of the event. The initiative has been a success, and we’re excited to keep improving it for future events.

How do you spark your creativity when you’re feeling in a rut?

For me (and I bet some other NMGs feel the same), chilling on my apartment balcony or going for a walk to take in Miami’s amazing views usually does the trick. It’s all about remembering how lucky we are to be here. Grounding yourself in gratitude is probably the best fuel for creativity. As for our NMG team, when those online meetings just aren’t doing it for us, we meet up in person. It’s like magic how we naturally start brainstorming. Seriously, it’s probably my favorite thing ever. I’m super lucky to work with such a creative team, each girl bringing their own unique perspectives to the table.

Where is your favorite place to decompress & unwind?

Some of our team loves unwinding in the comfort of their cozy homes, while others are all about hitting wellness classes or events. Miami offers so many options for de, you could literally pick something different every week. For 2024, our goal is to do more outdoor activities – like beach days, playing sports, or enjoying picnics at spots like Crandon Park or other local parks.

When do you feel your best, and what do you do to stay in good vibrations?

I might sound like a broken record, but we honestly feel our best when we’re deep in great conversations and activities with our NMGs, watching them grow and make connections. On top of that, practicing gratitude every day and surrounding ourselves with positive, uplifting people.

Why did you choose Ampersand Studios as your workspace?

We chose Ampersand Studios for its dynamic and collaborative environment. What sets Ampersand apart is its unique aesthetic that you don’t find just anywhere in Miami but also it’s team’s genuine commitment to supporting local creatives. We’re planning to make Ampersand even more of a central hub for our creative community. It’s the perfect setting for our team to innovate, connect, and draw inspiration from the energy around us. If you, regardless of being a guy or a girl, want to follow our Miami journey, get some insights, or even just have a laugh at our sassy memes, feel free to follow us on Instagram and TikTok at @newmiamigirls.

As for our facebook group (women only), that’s where the conversations really happen. If you want to dive deeper into our community, we’d love to have you in our Facebook group “New Miami Girls”.
