&MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: KATHERINE SIERRA / AREA STUDIO

group 3(2)(1)

This month’s &Member Spotlight features the visionary behind Area Studio, Katherine Sierra, Area Studio is a design company with a focus on interior design. We specialize in a variety of projects, including high-end residences, home staging, and complete remodeling. Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Kathy has lived in the United States for over 20 years. Her passion for art and design drove her to pursue a career in interior design- intrigued by how space could be transformed from scratch using different materials, textures, and colors.

The inspiration for Kathy’s designs comes from the beautiful city of Miami, where she currently resides. Miami’s cultural diversity springs forth many artistic influences throughout the city. New ideas are continually emerging from fashion, architectural design, and art museums. This creative energy motivates her to constantly evolve her sense of design and push Area Design Studio to the next level.

Join us as we learn a little more about Kathy…

Tell us something we don’t know about you.

I secretly watch friends every night before going to sleep.

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

Every day brings a new challenge, a new opportunity to continue to grow. I get motivated by new challenges and the chance to do something new, which is my daily core.

What is the one thing you can’t live without?

Coffee, it has to be coffee. I can’t function without a good cup of joe in the mornings.

Where do your brightest ideas come from?

I believe there is inspiration everywhere, but I mainly surround myself with art, nature, and learning from other design disciplines.

Where is your favorite place to decompress & unwind?

Traveling to new places is essential to decompress; it definitely does the trick for me. There is no better place to unwind than the beach.

When do you feel your best, and what do you do to stay in the vibration?

I feel my best after an outdoor workout; it keeps me focused and energized; I also love music.

And now for some real talk, why did you choose Ampersand Studios as your workspace?

The minute I walked into the space, I felt connected with the energy and people. The space has a strong identity and stands out by not following other coworking spaces that tend to look and feel the same.

Thank you for joining us, Kathy!
